Discover the books that changed the way the world reads crime.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned by the powerful Vanger clan. Her uncle employs disgraced journalist Mikael Blomkvist and tattooed hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders, they begin to unravel a dark family history...
The Girl Who Played With Fire Lisbeth Salander is now a wanted woman, on the run from the police. Mikael Blomkvist, editor-in-chief of Millennium magazine, is trying to prove her innocence. Yet Salander is more avenging angel than helpless victim. She may be an expert at staying out of sight - but she has ways of tracking down her most elusive enemies.
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest Salander is plotting her final revenge - against the man who tried to kill her, and against the government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist and his researchers at Millennium magazine, Salander is ready to fight to the end.
Stieg Larsson's phenomenal trilogy is continued in The Girl in the Spider's Web and The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye by David Lagercrantz.

I was a little hesitant at buying these books for my kindle because I'd heard it had some disturbing parts in it. While it did have a few disturbing parts, I am truly glad I read this. It's one of the more intriguing and creative stories I've read in a long time. The first book revolves around Mikael Blomkvist and his attempt to solve the mystery of Harriet Vanger's disappearance. He later teams up with Lisbeth Salander, an anti-social, extremely talented young woman who becomes the main focus of the next two books. Both Mikael and Lisbeth are great characters whom I wanted to learn more about throughout the books. One of the reasons these books held my interests is the character of Lisbeth Salander. Lisbeth is very different from most protagonists you're going to find in a novel. She isn't exactly a pleasant character and yet the reader is compelled to learn more about her to understand why she is the way she is.
All three stories are very interesting and it was hard for me to put them down. One criticism I did have though was that the beginnings of both the first and second books were pretty slow. It does take a while for the first two books to get interesting, but the pay off was definitely worth it. I would encourage anyone who was having problems getting into the first book to try and get past the first few chapters. The book gets a lot better after that, in my opinion.
One of the themes of these books is violence and mistreatment of women, which does lead to a few very disturbing scenes. Those scenes are certainly not for the faint of heart. That being said, I would still recommend reading these books. I would compare the series to 'Game of Thrones' in the sense that I haven't read anything quite like this before and the characters are not your typical generic fare. Their motivations and actions are fleshed out well, giving the reader an understanding of the characters even if you don't agree/like them.
Overall, I'm really glad I bought this. It was a good break from the generic and stale stories that I've been reading recently.

The Millennium Trilogy edition by Stieg Larsson Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
It is truly sad that Stieg Larsson is no longer with us because he had a way of writting that truly brought the charators in his books to life. When I started the first book it was a little tricky at first to get used to but when it finally got to know the charactors and was about a third of the way into the book you don't want to put it down. As a matter of fact you just keep saying to yourself ok, ok one more page and then I will set it down until you get to the bottom of that page and you say it again. There is so very much action and excitement through out all the books that you just wont want to stop reading them. You get so indepth to their situations and goings on that you feel like you are right there with Lisbeth and Mikael. Be glad that you can get all three books together because when you finish the first one you can't wait to start the next and so on right through to the end of the third. Even on the long journey you go through with Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist when it all come to a close you feel forfilled but you still would like to read more with them and find out what else their lives lead into. This is Truly a Treasured Collection and I believe will be in the Great Classics in Years to Come.
The first book was clever, suspenseful, & enjoyable. The second book in the series was good. I found the third book to be awful. It seems as though it failed to go through the eyes of an editor. It dragged on and I only dubbed to read it with hopes that it would improve. It only got worse.
The first book in the trilogy is by far the best, even though the second and third books are well worth reading. The central characters are dynamic and interesting and the mix of characters and pace of the plots in the first book is excellent. The second book drags a bit and Lisbeth becomes less engaging as a character, and is portrayed as a less likable and more one-dimensional character for many reasons. The side venture into her mathematics interest seems misplaced and causes the story to lose focus and interest. The last book re-engages the reader as the characters become more interesting and challenged and the government plot poses interesting differences between Swedish politics and those in other countries, especially in the authors reference to US legal and political practices.
